The laboratory’s main function is to provide diagnostic semen analysis, serving both the needs of Cambridge IVF and our patients and to General Practitioners in Cambridge and the wider surrounding region.
Diagnostic semen analysis
Semen analysis is the examination of your semen using a microscope to determine how many sperm are present, if they are moving correctly and if they look healthy.
Post vasectomy semen analysis
Semen analysis is the examination of your semen using a microscope to determine in your case whether or not sperm are present to allow us to confirm if your vasectomy procedure has been successful.
Sperm storage involves the freezing of sperm and storing them at ‘ultra-cold’ temperatures using liquid nitrogen which has a temperature of -196°C.
