Multi-cycle IVF – NHS excellence at an affordable price

Mother with Cambridge IVF nurse and child

Quality, transparency, affordability

Multi-cycle IVF costs £9,990 and is an all-inclusive fixed price package.  We are able to offer this because we are an NHS clinic dedicated to delivering the best possible results for all of our patients at a sensible price, rather than generating big profits for shareholders.

Our priority is simple; to help you to conceive and provide high quality, transparent and affordable evidence-based service. Unlike private clinics, the money you pay goes straight back into the local NHS economy.

Multi-cycle IVF is led by highly experienced NHS consultants. It includes IVF treatment, drugs up to pregnancy testing, sedation, scans, the compulsory Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) licence fee, blastocyst culture, embryo transfer using EmbryoGlue and access to fertility counselling.

Multi-cycle IVF is likely to be suitable for you if:

  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18 and 35
  • Your anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) result is under 50
  • You are under 45 years old

Our success rates

Our IVF experience dates back to 1994 and our success rates exceed the national averages. The following chart speaks for itself:

Before we start

You will need an initial assessment consultation with a consultant who will review your case history and ensure that Multi-cycle IVF is right for you before you commit to treatment. There is a fee for this consultation of £200.

The test results that our team need are an AMH test to determine egg reserve and Diagnostic blood tests (LH, FSH, TSH, FBC and Vitamin D) £130, Pre-treatment Scan £95 and  a semen analysis test £130.  You can also enquire if your GP is able to perform some or all of the tests for you.

If you have had some or all of these tests performed recently, you should email the results to us before your consultation. This will help us to avoid repeat tests and keep costs as low as possible.

How the Multi-cycle IVF package works

Once we confirm Multi-cycle IVF is right for you, the next step is to obtain and take your IVF medication, which is self-administered on a daily basis. Full training on injections is given. You will need approximately three monitoring ultrasound scans prior to each of your egg collection.

The egg collection procedure takes approximately 30 minutes and is performed by a specialist fertility doctor. You will be anaesthetised, but conscious, and are usually ready to go home within two hours.

On the day of egg collection, the eggs are mixed with sperm from your partner or chosen donor in our dedicated IVF laboratory, where we will grow your embryos for up to six days. The embryos grow in special incubators and we return one embryo to you either three or five days later in an embryo transfer procedure.

In many cases more than one blastocyst of good quality is available for transfer and any surplus blastocysts can be vitrified (frozen). This freezing process is extremely successful and the pregnancy rates from frozen blastocyst transfers at Cambridge IVF are exceptional. If you have more than one blastocyst suitable for transfer then you will be offered vitrification at the reduced rate of £300 and frozen blastocyst transfers at the reduced rate of £995 + £80 HFEA Fee + Medication £200-£450.

The embryo transfer will be carried out by a fertility specialist using ultrasound guidance. EmbryoGlue® is a specific and clinically-proven liquid designed for the transfer of embryos during IVF treatment and is used for all of our patients have fresh or frozen embryo transfer at no extra cost.

After embryo transfer

You will be given a personalised information sheet advising you on the next steps together with contact information. You will be given a prescription to purchase further medication  to assist early pregnancy and should carry out a urine pregnancy test 16 days after egg collection. If the pregnancy test is positive, then you will be booked for an early pregnancy scan at the Rosie Hospital and early pregnancy advice will be given.

If your pregnancy test is negative, you will be offered counselling by our dedicated counsellor and a review appointment will be arranged with a fertility specialist to discuss the next steps.

If you conceive following your first cycle then you will receive a refund of £2,600 or £1,300 if you conceive as a result of your second cycle.

What if I need or want more than the standard Multi-cycle IVF package?

We will only advocate additional procedures which are scientifically proven to make a difference, and which are safe and ethical. We also want to make these additions as affordable as possible.

We will ensure all of the options are clearly explained to you and that you are fully aware of the total cost of any additional procedures before you enter into any treatment with us. For example, where male infertility is a factor, we may recommend intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). This is offered at a 50% reduction in price reduced price for Multi-cycle IVF patients.

You may wish to consider using our EmbryoscopeTM. It uses new tools to optimise embryo development and selection of embryos for transfer or freezing. We are the only clinic in the region to have this advanced equipment and for women under 35 we achieved a 56.3% clinical pregnancy rate with patients using EmbryoscopeTM between January and December 2017. This is also offered at a 50% reduction in price for Multi-cycle IVF patients.

We will never offer you something you don’t need, will not benefit from, or is not safe.

In addition to the Multi-cycle IVF package costing £9,990 we offer the following additional services which can be added to the package per cycle:

  • ICSI - £525
  • MACs-ICSI £525
  • EmbryoscopeTM - £250
  • Embryo freezing - £300
  • Use of donor sperm - £1,000

If you have embryos frozen, you will have the option of having a frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycle. At Cambridge IVF we use a technique called ‘vitrification’ to rapidly freeze any good quality embryos that are not needed immediately. During a FET, we can thaw embryos, one at a time, and transfer them back to you. Freezing and thawing of embryos allow us to extend the number of chances you have to become pregnant from one egg collection procedure.

  • Vitrification - £300
  • Frozen Blastocyst Transfer - £995+ £80 HFEA Fee + Medication £200-£450
